At RecWest YMCA, we offer a variety of sports programs tailored to different age groups and needs, ensuring everyone can participate and enjoy physical activity. Our junior programs are available multiple days a week and feature a range of sports, including basketball, gymnastics soccer, multisport, and more.

Our programs are all designed to provide exceptional services for your children at an appropriate age and level.

 

PlaYSports

Casual programs that offer flexible and fun sports activities for all encouraging participation and enjoyment without the commitment of structured sessions.

  • PlaYGym

    PlaYGym is a great introduction to gymnastics in a fun and safe environment.

    Our gymnastics PlaYGym program caters to preschool children aged from nine months to five years. The program allows children of all abilities to develop new skills which can be transferred into their everyday lives.

    This parent-assisted program is designed to provide new experiences for you and your child, while enhancing your young one's gross and fine motor skills. There are activities set up each week to challenge and excite the little ones, with the main emphasis on fun and participation.

    This is a child-led and adult-assisted class. Both of you will work together to tackle the beam or learn to jump on the trampoline. An adult may bring more than one child, provided the adult can supervise and assist all children safely.

    Ages: nine months to five years

    Bookings are not essential, although you can now book PlaYGym online.

Tiny Sports

A structured weekly program designed for children aged two to five years old, focusing on introducing a variety of sports in a fun and engaging way to foster early development and a love for physical activity.

Miny Sports

A structured weekly program designed for children aged five to 12 years old, focusing on introducing a variety of sports in a fun and engaging way to foster early development and a love for physical activity.

  • Miny Basketball
    Miny Basketball is our junior basketball skills development program

    Led by skilled and accredited coaches, Miny Basketball is all about the learning the game of basketball. The program is suitable for five to 12-year-old boys and girls from any skill level.

    Come along to learn the basics of basketball – from dribbling and passing to shooting and mini games – in a fun, relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. 
  • Miny Soccer
    We offer an indoor junior soccer program all year round.

    Miny Soccer is an introductory soccer program for primary school aged children. The program takes place indoors within our stadium to ensure classes can operate all year round, regardless of weather. Children will learn the skills required to play a soccer game through fun activities, team participation and mini-games.
  • Miny Netball
    Our indoor junior netball program introduces kids aged five to 12 years to the sport of netball.

    Miny Netball program is designed to teach primary school-aged children the essentials of netball.

    Children will learn the fundamental skills of passing, shooting and how to move around the court. We'll also introduce them to basic rules and positional awareness to help them grow in the sport.
  • Miny Badminton
    Our junior badminton program introduces kids aged five to 12 years to the sport of badminton.

    Miny Badminton focuses on helping young players understand foundational skills such as how to grip a racquet, different serves and strokes, and footwork and stance.

    The program is a great way for your child to learn something new in a fun and supportive environment.
  • Miny Multisport
    We offer a junior multisport program for children aged from five to 12 years.

    Miny Multisport gives children the opportunity to try a different sport each week. Your child could take part in anything from common sports like basketball and soccer to more unique sports like hockey and handball.

    The program is a fantastic way to discover new sports and learn the basic skills required to head into a club or social sport setting with confidence.
  • Miny Pickleball
    We offer a junior pickleball program for children aged five to 12 years.

    Miny Pickleball introduces children to one of the fastest-growing sports in the world, combining elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis.

    Through fun and engaging activities, children will learn the basic pickleball skills such as serving, rallying, movement, and teamwork. The program is a fantastic way for children to build coordination, confidence, and a love of sport, while developing the foundation needed to progress into social or club pickleball programs.

      • Select 'Add family member'.
      • Select 'Casual bookings'. 
      • Select 'Next'.
      • Select 'Create a free guest account'.
      • Select 'Next'.
      • Complete the child's details.
      • Select 'Next'.
    3. Choose your time.
      • Select 'Book'.
      • Select ‘Sports programs / Gymnastics’. 
      • Use the filter to select your relevant age. 
      • Use the timetable to find your preferred day and time. 
      • Select 'Book now'.
      • In the pop-up window select 'Book now' next to the student’s name.
  • Booking conditions

    Absent sessions will result in a forfeiture of the class. No refunds are available.
